Through his PBS series, John has introduced millions of viewers to the world of Oriental rugs. Each rug in the collection is an original design. A trained artist, John sketches and paints eachrug design before they are handwoven in Nepal from the most spectacular materials in the world -- handspun 100% Tibetan wool and, in a select few, luxurious Chinese silk. As a founding member of the RUGMARK foundation, New Moon works to abolish illegal child labor. New Moon was founded in 1993 and is a small, family-owned company dedicated to the highest standard of design and workmanship.
We are based in Los Angeles and are third generation rug producers and weavers from Afghanistan. We started our production in 1997and specialize in decorative reproductions using hand-spun wool and natural dyes.Our goal is to recreate the old classic decorative rugs and add our own personal touch. We are currently working on line of contemporary rugs which are designed by one of my brothers Jawid Ahmadi. The unique part of the contemporary line is that it’s woven in Afghanistan which is very unusual. Since we also sell retail, we have the advantage of seeing new trends and colors. Our goal is to produce little, but produce good.

The Pacific Collection was established in 1997. Our lines are hand-woven in the villages around Central and Northern Afghanistan with hand-spun wool using natural dyes and traditional weaving methods. The Sina Collection is our Standard Weave produced in Central Afghanistan and has 85-95 knots per square inch. The Aryan Collection is our Fine Weave from Northern Afghanistan, with 140-150 knots per square inch. Our designs are re-creations of highly collectible antique rugs such as Heriz, Feraghan Sarouk, Bijar, Oushak, Sultanabad, Tabriz, Serapi, and other tribal weavings. They are made in sizes 3x5 through 12x16 feet, runners, squares and some odd sizes.

The Creative Touch specializes in high-end antique reproductions of Persian designs and selected examples of the remarkably refined Moghul carpets from India. These carefully studied designs represent their true origins by using handspun wool and natural vegetable dyes.
